My Approach: Psychodynamic /Group Analytic
I offer a supportive, confidential and boundaried space where I will listen and give you time to talk, reflect and explore what is weighing on your mind. We will think together about what troubles you, whether this is related to personal concerns and conflicts, depression, painful experiences, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, anxiety, neurodiversity, bereavement/loss or you are seeking to deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships to others.
My approach is underpinned by psychodynamic and group analytic thinking. These approaches focus on the role of unconscious processes. As adults many of our relational patterns and responses to life events have their origins in our early experiences, these often shape our adult way of being in the world.
S.H Foulkes who developed the group analytic approach, emphasised that our individual struggles are rooted in our social contexts, including our families, communities and societies in which we live. These often unconsciously influence our choices, relationships, values and beliefs. By exploring and unravelling these unconscious processes, it can lead to a deeper psychological understanding and lasting change.
I will support and work with you to make sense of your experiences and help you to understand and notice more about yourself and your ways of relating and patterns of behaviour, whether in individual or group therapy. Through this gradual and unravelling process, change can begin to emerge as you make different choices and develop your resources, and find your own way of moving forward to create positive shifts in your life and relationships.
I offer short-term and open-ended therapy which is regularly reviewed.
